Designer
Some would say I have been a designer/maker since age dot - there has always been some kind of creativity brewing in the Pocklington household; be it a doll's house out of cardboard boxes (fully kitted out with carpets, hand drawn wallpaper & curtains of course) or intricately detailed drawings on greetings cards. My parents are both creative types so I guess it's in the genes!
I have a degree in textile design & so fabrics play a key
role in the majority of my work. My brand Get
Smitten™ encompasses my love of vintage fabrics with crisp cotton crochet - through a collection of hand made textiles
for you & your home. You can visit the online boutique here and I am currently working on making some of the stock available for wholesale. You can join in the Get Smitten™ chatter & fun on the Facebook page. Stop by & say 'hi!'
I try very hard to be ethical with my designs and am keen to apply the 'make do & mend' approach wherever possible. I source reclaimed fabrics to the point of obsession and love to use found treasures in my work. You can read more about this in my magpie section
As time is usually running away with me & I never seem to have
enough hours in the day to make everything that swarms my brain, I have recently produced patterns & kits of my designs to inspire you to get creative yourself! I also run a series of creative Make, Do & Mend workshops to teach the techniques required to complete any of my kits. You can view the series in the Workshop section of this site & see the behind the scenes photos on the Get Smitten™ Facebook page
